Are your "Benefits" Really Benefits?

In this 'sode we dive into how pelvic PTs actually get paid.

5 Reminders When Treating Chronic Pain

Pelvic PT Rising: The pelvic health tools to make you a better clinician and/or a more successful business owner. We want every single pelvic health practitioner to be more confident and successful in your practice and career!

  • Clinical Courses: Game-changing online courses to make you more confident, challenge your thinking and improve patient outcomes

  • Business Resources: Helping 500+ pelvic health practitioners confidently start, grow and build their dream business!

Often one of the first questions asked at interviews is "what are the benefits you offer", but when pressed most pelvic PTs don't really even know what these are!

We often think "benefits" are something 'added in' on top of our hourly wage - in fact, the opposite is true! Benefits are subtracted out of the total pot, and our hourly wage is what is left over.

This is fine if we really need those benefits - but do we? Sometimes, absolutely! Other times, not so much.

This 'sode helps you understand how you're actually getting paid and make apples to apples comparisons between jobs.

For example, and PelvicSanity - and many other small businesses - we don't do benefits. Instead, we just give our employees the full pot without anything taken out and let them decide what they want to do with it. We don't dictate that some of your wages go to medical, some to dental, some to 401k, some to PTO, etc. If you want to use those to buy a house or go to Vegas, it's your money; use it how you want!

This isn't saying one way is right and another is wrong - they're just different, and we need to have a true understanding of "benefits" in order to recognize what is right for us.

As Nicole said on the full 'sode of the topic...
