Mentorship (Part 2): The Three Aspects of Mentorship

What exactly should be included in mentoring? Is it just learning additional clinical skills? In this 'sode we dive into what mentorship can (and should) be!

5 Reminders When Treating Chronic Pain

Pelvic PT Rising: The pelvic health tools to make you a better clinician and/or a more successful business owner. We want every single pelvic health practitioner to be more confident and successful in your practice and career!

  • Clinical Courses: Game-changing online courses to make you more confident, challenge your thinking and improve patient outcomes

  • Business Resources: Helping 500+ pelvic health practitioners confidently start, grow and build their dream business!

In this 'sode we dive into what mentorship can (and should) be!

1) Clinical Skills - It's certainly important to learn new clinical skills. New techniques or tools in our toolbox. But sadly, this is where the idea of mentorship stops for many employees and businesses. (And this is also something they can just send you to a con-ed course for!).

2) Patient Management - The biggest missing piece of mentorship. Patient management is knowing how to work with all the patients who come into your treatment room. Being a 'chameleon' and able to work with all people. Getting buy-in and keeping them engaged. Giving patients time to make changes. Without this, all the clinical skill in the world is wasted!

3) Professional Development - How do you become better as a professional and more valuable as an employee? This category is broad and can include everything from time management (and being on time) to managing burnout and stress to deciding what courses to take next. Ultimately, it's making you a better practitioner and more valuable asset to any company you work for.

How does your employer's mentorship program stack up? Or if you're offering this to employees, are you touching on each of these areas? We need to broaden our definition of mentorship if we're going to get the results we're looking for!

As Nicole said on the full 'sode of the topic...
