What If You Think Your Patient "Isn't That Bad"

What do we do with a patient who comes in with mild or intermittent symptoms?

5 Reminders When Treating Chronic Pain

Pelvic PT Rising: The pelvic health tools to make you a better clinician and/or a more successful business owner. We want every single pelvic health practitioner to be more confident and successful in your practice and career!

  • Clinical Courses: Game-changing online courses to make you more confident, challenge your thinking and improve patient outcomes

  • Business Resources: Helping 500+ pelvic health practitioners confidently start, grow and build their dream business!

We hear from so many patients who were told "my pelvic floor seems fine" or "my symptoms aren't that bad" from their pelvic PT. And we understand the temptation - they might be a lot better off than most people we treat!

But they're still in our office and we still have an obligation to provide the absolute best care to resolve their symptoms.

Often this is a function of not going through the 4 Phases of Treatment (if you don't know them, make sure to check out the Pelvic PT Essentials).

Either ....

  1. We don't want to "overutilize" services or make them dependent on us, or

  2. We genuinely aren't sure what to do with them at this point

Neither of these are good reasons not to apply all our knowledge - our doctoral level knowledge - to these patients!

And let's realize what our language and attitude about their problem is conveying!

We can't simultaneously think more people need to know and come to pelvic PT AND think someone is "not bad enough" to get our full help!

As Nicole said on the full 'sode of the topic...

"They're still in our office and we still have an obligation to provide the absolute best care to resolve their symptoms." - Nicole Cozean
